How does the PSS Shaft Seal work?

Bellows
The bellows acts as a spring and pushes the carbon stator up against the stainless steel rotor, creating a water tight seal.
Carbon Stator
The carbon stator is bored slightly larger than the propeller shaft, allowing it to "float" around the shaft and compensate for some misalignment and vibration problems.
Stainless Steel Rotor
Secured and sealed to the propeller shaft with two o-rings.
I would like to thank you and PSS for your help this summer. I had the crab vessel with the 25 + year old PSS dripless that was no longer manufactured. While having the shaft aligned I felt it was prudent to change the dripless even though it was working flawlessly due to its age and heavy use. With a very short window PSS came through on time and manufactured a one off dripless. Thank you for getting the Polar Sea out on time.
Bought a Pacific Seacraft Crealock with Yanmar 3GM30F engine - excellent instructions and online videos! This is the third boat I have had PSS dripless shaft seal on! Would not have any other! Color me a happy camper!
The original PSS Shaft Seal was installed 15 years ago and still looks pristine! I am replacing it while my Pearson 28-2 is in the boatyard for bottom paint. The PSS Shaft Seal is only being replaced because I feel it has exceeded its recommended life and not because routine inspection has shown any problems. These are great products!
